چکیده

Microwave ultra-wideband technology has been widely adopted in instrumentation and measurement systems, including ground-penetrating radar (GPR) sensors. Baluns are essential components these systems to feed balanced antennas from unbalanced cables. typically introduced avoid issues with return signals, asymmetrical radiation patterns In GPR can cause poor sensitivity due a reduction radiated power, blind spots changes the pattern additional clutter common mode radiation. The different balun technologies currently available exhibit wide variation performance characteristics such as insertion loss, reflection coefficient phase balance, well physical properties size manufacturability. this study, of two magnetic transformer baluns, tapered microstrip baluns an active based on high-speed amplifiers were investigated, all up frequencies 6 GHz. A radio frequency current probe was used measure currents cables that occur performing baluns. It found commercially have best linearity, while also having highest losses. design at low frequencies, while, high its is similar other tested. had lowest

Ultra-wideband, short-pulse ground-penetrating radar: simulation and measurement

Ultra-wideband (UWB), short-pulse (SP) radar is investigated theoretically and experimentally for the detection and identification of targets buried in and placed atop soil. The calculations are performed using a rigorous, three-dimensional (3-D) Method of Moments algorithm for perfectly conducting bodies of revolution. Particular targets investigated theoretically include anti-personnel mines,...

Design of an Ultra-Wideband Ground-Penetrating Radar System Using Impulse Radiating Antennas

At TNO-FEL in The Hague, Netherlands, one of the research programs is to explore the use of ultra-wideband (UWB) electromagnetic fields in a bi-static ground-penetrating radar (GPR) system for the detection, location and identification of buried items of unexploded ordnance (e.g. land mines). In the present paper we describe the current status of the development of this system. The UWB ground-p...

Oil Well Monitoring by Ultra-wideband Ground Penetrating Synthetic Aperture Radar

Radar has been used for remote sensing and surveillance for decades. Nowadays radar remote sensing and radar surveillance is used for many different things in the modern society. Radar can sense objects or environments from very long distance. Electromagnetic radar waves can work where and when light cannot. This unique ability of radar made remote sensing techniques available in research and i...

Ultra-Wideband Automotive Radar

A lot of progress has been made for automotive radar during the last years. There are two types of automotive radar; “long-range radar at 77GHz with a range capability up to 200m“ for automatic cruise control (ACC) and “short-range radar at 24/26 and 79GHz up to 30m“ for anti-collision. Long radar with narrow radiation beam enables a automobile to maintain a cruising distance, while short-range...

Ground-Penetrating Radar

Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has recently gained a wide acceptance in the archaeological community as a method that can quickly and accurately locate buried archaeological features, artifacts, and important cultural strata in the near-surface. The GPR method has been especially effective in certain sediments and soils between about 20 cm and 5 m below the ground surface, where the targets to ...
